Summer Family & Birthday Photo Session

This place is my favorite lesser known area park, and I am so thrilled I finally got to photograph here! Between the willow tress, the wild pond with lilly pads and boardwalk, and areas we didn’t even take advantage of this session… I think you’ll see why I love it so much…

But as with any location it’s the family that’s in focus during our session. Kelly has a lovely sense of style, and her family’s session served several meaningful purposes as her kids prepare to be baptized, her youngest turned one, and of course, the need for an updated family portrait with the fast growing little lady so there are a couple outfit changes!

All day we watched the weather as the wind was gusting. By evening though the wind was lighter, and the heavy clouds broke up to give us some sunshine, too!

This one of Lily in front of the pond filled with lilly pads I find so charming. And the back of that dress is gorgeous!

We went in search of the beaver dam that I saw when I was here in early spring. We found it, but it’s nearly hidden with the growth around the pond now! Over here, the bold colors of the kids outfits really shined. And then we turned around and caught the sun’s perfect evening glow.

The sun started to drift behind the trees is this wooded park, and while I’d love to shoot in the golden glow forever, we still had a couple more must-have’s to do! Kelly had lovely flower crowns for the girls’ baptism, and the classic white outfits really stood out back along the boardwalk.

You would never guess that little Emerson did not want to wear her flower crown for anything! The end of our session involved some dancing by me.

We had one more photograph that Kelly had her heart set on: a shot with a big pink balloon that Kelly picked up that evening just before our session.

The balloon popped, but not before we managed to make this miracle happen (maybe with a bit of photoshop: Emerson was pretty insistent about removing that flower crown, and I have a couple photos with tears to prove it).

It was a fun, rewarding, beautiful photo session I was happy to be a part of!
